The purpose of the CalWORKs program is:

• provide financial help to children who lack financial support and care
• protect and preserve the family unit
• make available to children who cannot live in their
• promote and encourage work so that families are self-sufficient
• provide the opportunity for family rehabilitation whenever
• possible
