Jose joined United Latino Voices (ULV) in 2021. He spent his formative years in San Francisco’s Visitation Valley neighborhood. In 1997, his family moved to Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, where Jose learned Spanish and provided translation support for visiting missionaries at his local church. He’s lived in Antioch since 2000, graduating from Delta Christian High School in 2002. He graduated with honors from Heald College, earning a degree in Computer Information Technology. Jose was a General Manager for Verizon Wireless, Operations Manager with Vintage Design Incorporated, and Relationship Manager with Bank of America. He’s served as a Community Response Leader with Stand Together Contra Costa, leading outreach at churches and schools and facilitating Know Your Rights workshops and other community events to help families respond to immigration enforcement. In addition to his role with ULV, Jose serves as Program Director for Village Community Resource Center.
