A retired medical social worker affiliated with Kaiser Permanente, Walnut Creek. During her twenty-year tenure at Kaiser, Sylvia was instrumental in developing a case management program for children-adolescents with chronic medical and learning disabilities. Sylvia served as the Kaiser liaison to the local school districts and county Medi-Cal clinics for care coordination and advocacy on behalf of special needs children and their families. Prior to healthcare. Sylvia served as the Assistant Dean of Students at Stanford University. And, is the founder of the National Network of Hispanic Women.
Volunteerism is an important value that Sylvia brought to the Kaiser Professional Latino Association – Health Scholarship Committee, and now to ULV addressing the health inequities created by COVID-19 in the Latinx communities. Sylvia is the liaison representing South County.
